Brownie Guide Camp - Mega Circus Workshops!
Brownie Guide Camp - Mega Circus Workshops!

Monday saw us starting the week with a fire show, followed by circus workshops with over 250 amazing Brownie Guides over the week. Three of our best instructors took them through their paces with diabolos, hoops, juggling, poi spinning, contact staff, plate spinning, pedal racer balance, clown bike and even tightrope walking!

We collected some of our favourite quotes as the girls worked hard learning new skills.

"Best thing here!"

"I did it!"

"Why do you look so funny?"

Our circus freaks must be excused as they spotted some great signs on the way home, and even stopped off in Crawley for some lunch on one occasion. Where upon our Toxi stumbled across a couple of entertainers who were in slightly over their heads with children wanting to learn hoop moves they were unable to do, so Toxi stepped up to help!

Thanks for a great week - see you in 4 years!

New Tightrope Rig Construction
New Tightrope Rig Construction

We've been working hard on making up our very own tightrope rig, rather than hiring from another circus everytime it's requested. We've managed to include all the best elements of tightrope walking in a portable rig that is just the right size for children and strong enough for adults to all have a go!

Matt has just finished painting and, after under going heavy testing, was ready for it's first outting in the summer holidays - and what a first week! Over 200 children and a few adults all crossed that tightrope and a few managed to get across without any help whatsoever!

Contact us for more information on booking our tightrope rig along with a specialist instructor, either alongside a circus area or just for a fun afternoon, we can't get enough of it!

Lisa Sampson storms Britain's Got Talent!

Lisa Sampson storms Britain's Got Talent!

Well done to the amazing Lisa Sampson and her star hoop routine in Britain's Got Talent - we were there supporting the whole way and were thrilled when she made it into the semi-finals! After Lily coached her for fire spinning and we made sure those lovely locks of hair were all fire safe - she nailed the fire hoop and umbrella piece of her routine and we couldn't be more proud!

Here's hoping for many amazing things for Lisa in the future - she works bloody hard and deserves it all!

Back in Training!
Back in Training!

With the wedding season coming in we're back in rehearsals to choreograph fire routines for the 'bride to be' (and I'm sure the 'groom to be' has some say....sometimes) choice of musical playlist. This year is looking very exciting as we have a lovely mix of genres from brit pop to tribal music chosen. Lily will have her work cut out for her choreographing to all these!

Above are some snaps from our training sessions and fire rehearsals - see if you can spot a recent Britain's Got Talent star in there rehearsing her semi-final show piece too!

Malumi Music Video
Malumi Music Video

(Lily) I was lucky enough to be asked to spin fire in Malumi's new music video which was filmed over the weekend. Arriving to the set location first thing in the morning when it was pitch black and foggy was no mean feat but Sara and Klaire (Malumi) were very welcoming and we were soon all cosy in the back of the brilliant VW van which was the makeup and hair area. Very chic!

Who wouldn't be excited at the mention of pixie ears?! Trying to sit still whilst having them glued on and wondering how I was going to fire spin with half a bottle of hairspray keeping the back combed bouffant upright was slightly worrying, but after sneakily wetting the edges and making sure no damage had been done to the style it was off to the field to spin fire.

It was freeeeeeeeezing outside!!! Well, not quite freezing temperatures but it felt it. The usual quick strip and set equipment alight I was soon warm again and had amazing fun spinning all my fire equipment for the camera. Body burning first to warm up and get nice and dirty, then onto fire poi, the big badboy fire ropes and, my favourite, the hoop. I even had a spin with my new fire staff just to complete the set. Then it was back to the car to wait for everyone else to have their makeup done before all trapsing down to the hut in the woods where they were to film the 'party' section.

Sneakily lighting a poi bucket fire to keep people warm, we all felt the fog machine attached to the car battery might not be all that necessary with the impending misty background, but these girls know their stuff and the shot was done in super quick time before we needed a surgeon for our frostbitten toes - lots of fairies dancing and a fairy queen meeting her younger and human self. We can't wait to see the final edit!

Circus Party Time

Circus Party Time

Excited to have our first circus party of the year! The lucky Elodie had a circus skills party with all her friends for her 5th party with Lily and Hayley, although they were informed her friend William sadley couldn't make it as he was returning from Wales on holiday, but everyone else was there and got stuck in.

After the demonstration of skills and the reassurance there were no clowns in the immediate area (grownups not included) the children all dived into trying it all out. The grown ups slid casually over to the plate spinning area and were immediately frustrated whereby some came and had a go at hooping after being warned it was highly addictive......

Challenges and games then followed - who could perform on one leg?! With two pieces of equipment?! The children were amazing and took up each challenge, we even had one of Elodie's friend spinning 5 hoops at once!

Elodie then took charge as it was show time. After performing her juggling routine with Lily everyone got up and showed their new amazing skills to rapturous applause. The audience were so loud they nearly took the roof off!

Thanks so much for having us entertain at your circus skills party, we had an amazing time and hope to see you again soon!
